It is true that in past postings on my blog I would talk about specific skin conditions or uses or our products. However, the fact that there are no preservatives in our products makes them a wonderful choice for children or individuals with sensitive skin.

If you are still hesitant as to whether or not our body butters or soaps would help a younger member of your family, try it on a small area of their skin. Have them wash their hands with our soap or rub a small amount of body butter on a forearm. Coconut Oil

Is extracted from the copra of the coconut. The copra is the dry meat or kernel. The oil itself is used for cooking, but here at Desert Rose Skin Care we use it in our soaps. Coconut Oil has a wonderful lathering ability which gives you the feeling of washing with a handful of bubbles. Of course, this is a wonderful clean feeling. The oil is also a great emollient and moisturizer.

Problems with your hands

I don’t know about you but as I get older I find it more difficult to bend my hands first thing in the morning. Now there is no way to stop that feeling but, you can certainly get some relief.

Palm Oil

Originating from Africa, it is produced from the fruit (flesh) of the Elaeis Guineensis tree. Although, its name is similar to palm kernal oil these two products are physically and chemically unrelated. Palm Oil itself has been produced and manufactured for both dietary and cosmetic uses. In its cosmetic use, the oil remains semi-formed when stored at room temperature. Since our soaps are superfatted, we use palm oil to add hardness to the soap. This allows our soaps to last longer than most other hand made soaps.

Believe it or not, Lye is a corrosive agent that can actually burn your skin, but it is an essential ingredient in soap making. What makes lye so important is its ability to help water and oils/butters bind into a solid. But you have nothing to fear with our soaps, they are superfatted. We use extra oils so all of the lye is used up and it doesn’t remain in its corrosive form. And by using these extra oils/butters we are giving additional moisturizing capabilities to the soap.

Truthfully, it should be whenever you want to use it. However, there is a time during your day where using a moisturizer will do the best good. That is after a bath or shower.

Just think about it for a moment. Even if you don’t use hot water chances are the water is warm. That warm water will help open up your pores so when you apply the moisturizer it will seep straight in where it is needed the most. A wonderful side benefit is you won’t need to use as much product. Your skin will be still damp and a little will go a very long way.

If for any reason your lotion doesn’t immediately penetrate into your skin, don’t wash it off. Let it stay and dry into your skin on its own. Your skin will thank you for it. But whatever lotion/body butter you choose, make sure it isn’t fill of chemicals.
